It is the largest and longest ocean in the world. Its total area is 68 million square miles. It extends from the Arctic Ocean to the Arctic Ocean. It is twice as big as the Atlantic Ocean and two and a half times as big as the Indian Ocean. It is larger than the entire landmass of the earth and covers one-third of the total surface area of the earth. Its width at the equator is 10,000 miles and its length from the Bering Strait to the Antarctic Circle is 9,000 miles. Its maximum width is only 40 miles. Its maximum width is along the equator rather than south. It is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the Panama Canal. Apart from this, the South Sea also meets the Atlantic Ocean in the south.
There are many seas in this ocean. which are located near its edges. These seas are mostly on its western side. Their names are Akhostak Sea, Sea of Japan, Yellow Sea, China Sea and Siliban Sea. There are many volcanic islands standing on this sea. The average depth of the Pacific Ocean ranges from two to two and a half miles, with the greatest depth found near the island of Mindanao or Guam. It is called "Mariana Trench". All the islands in this sea are arc-shaped. High mountains are spread from the shores of this sea. And they are world famous for earthquakes.Because the sea is so vast and there are few natural harbors along its coast, it is not a great highway of international trade and commerce.
