Um ul Momineen Hazrat Jawariya, may Allah be pleased with him

Um ul Momineen Hazrat Jawariya, may Allah be pleased with him

She is the daughter of Harith bin Abu Dharar, the chief of the Bani Mustaliq tribe.  When the prisoners were enslaved and distributed among the Mujahideen, Hazrat Jawariya (RA) became the share of Hazrat Thabit bin Qais (RA).

He wrote to them, saying, "Give me this much money, and I will set you free."  I am the daughter of Harith bin Abu Dharar, the chief of my tribe, and I have become a Muslim.  Sabit bin Qais has made me a correspondent but I do not have enough money to be freed by paying the exchange, so help me financially at this time because my whole family has been caught in this war and all of us  Wealth has become the spoils of war in the hands of Muslims and I am in a world of poverty and helplessness at the moment.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) heard their cries and took pity on them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: If I treat you better than this, will you accept it?  He asked, "O Messenger of Allah!  What would you say to me better than that?  He said, "I want to pay all the money for your exchange on your behalf and then I will set you free and marry you myself so that your family honor and dignity will be maintained."  Hearing this, Hazrat Jawariya (RA) was overjoyed.  He gladly accepted the award.  So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) paid all the money for the exchange and freed them and added them to his wives, and they were honored with the honor of Umm al-Mu'minin.

When the news spread in the Islamic army that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had married Hazrat Jawariya (ra), all the Mujahideen agreed and said that the family in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) got married  No member of this family can be a slave.  Therefore, all the female slaves of this family who were in the possession of Mujahideen-e-Islam were immediately released.

This is the reason why Hazrat Ayesha (RA) used to say that the marriage of a woman in the world was not more blessed than the marriage of Hazrat Jawariya because because of this marriage the whole family of Bani Mustaliq was freed from slavery.

Hazrat Jawariya (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that three nights before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to my tribe, I had a dream that a moon came from Madinah and fell on my lap.  I did not mention this dream to anyone, but when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) married me, I understood that this was the interpretation of this dream.

Her real name was "Lamb" (Nikokar) but since this name signified greatness and greatness, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) changed her name to "Jawariya" (little girl).  She was a devout woman and always engaged in her duties from Fajr prayers to Chasht prayers.

 (Volumes 3, p. 2)

Hazrat Jawariya's two brothers Amr bin Al-Harith and Abdullah bin Harith and one of his sisters' Umrah bint Harith all became Muslims and became proud of their honorable companionship.

The conversion of his brother Abdullah bin Harith to Islam is both very surprising and interesting. He came to the Prophet's court to free the prisoners of his nation.  He hid them all in the valley of a mountain and came to the Prophet's house alone and petitioned for the release of the prisoners of war.  The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: What have you brought for the redemption of the prisoners?  "I have nothing," he said.  Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: What happened to your camels?  And where did that slave of yours go?  Which you have hidden in such and such a gorge.  Abdullah ibn Harith was astonished to hear the news of the unseen from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).  The light of truthfulness and your prophethood shone and he immediately recited the word and converted to Islam.

 (Kitab al-Isti'ab)

Hazrat Jawariya (RA) has also narrated seven hadiths from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) out of which two hadiths are in Bukhari Sharif and two hadiths are in Muslim Sharif and the remaining three hadiths are mentioned in other books.  And Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar, Hazrat Ubaid bin Sabaq and his nephew Hazrat Tufail have narrated from him.

At the age of sixty-five, she died in Medina in 6 AH, and the ruler of Medina, Marwan, offered her funeral prayers and she was buried in the cemetery of Janat al-Baqi.
